Cyclone Risk Management Project
ABOUT THE CLIENT
The client is a statutory body constituted under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 (Central Act 53 of 2005). The client is a disaster management authority and is a statutory non-autonomous body under the leadership of a publicly elected official.
NEEDS OF THE CLIENT
The need of the project was to prepare DPR (Detailed project planning) for Construction of Cyclone Shelters, Mangrove Plantations and Shelter belt plantations and Capacity building programs on disaster management under the World Bank funded National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project.

OUR SOLUTION
Carried out a detailed study on the occurrences of cyclones in Kerala during the last 100 years using the Cyclone Atlas prepared by India Meteorological Department and mapped the cyclone-prone areas in the coastal belt of Kerala using GIS. The Team located these areas in the 1:4000 scale cadastral map of Kerala showing the panchayats and ULBs and based on the map, carried outfield studies, prepared design criteria and also conceptual designs and detailed designs of cyclone shelters and also prepared estimates.
